Democrats need to end the shutdown and get things moving again

Monday marked Day 38 of the Democrats’ shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.

More than 100,000 DHS employees, including roughly 50,000 TSA officers remain unpaid, leading to a rise in resignations, absences, and increased delays at airports across the county.

House Republicans have already voted on legislation to fully fund DHS, but Senate Democrats have continued to block legislation.

This week, we will vote again to end the shutdown and ensure that the men and women of TSA, the U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA, and Border Patrol receive the pay and support they deserve. It is time for Democrats to stop playing politics with the safety of the American people and reopen DHS without further delay.

On Thursday, President Trump launched TrumpRX.gov , a new government platform providing Americans with direct access to lower prices on dozens of common, brand-name prescription drugs.

Through President Trump’s Executive order, Delivering Most-Favored-Nation Prescription Drug Pricing To American Patients , prices will be aligned with the lowest available in other developed countries.

Savings can be accessed directly through the manufacturer connected into TrumpRx.gov or via coupons that can be either printed or downloaded to your phone and taken to your local pharmacy. Currently, TrumpRx is only available for cash-paying patients. Additional prescription drugs will continue to be added on a rolling basis as agreements are secured with manufacturers.
I applaud President Trump for once again putting the American people first by driving down the costs of prescription drugs. This commonsense action helps deliver clear pricing to help Americans purchase the healthcare they need at a price they can afford.

As we approach the end of October, the consequences of the Senate Democrats’ shutdown continue to become more severe. Because of their continued refusal to pass the House-passed clean continuing resolution, more than 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP are at risk of not receiving benefits starting Nov. 1.

This affects not only families already enrolled, but also recent applicants and furloughed federal workers. While households with a remaining balance in their account can continue to use those funds, no new funds will be loaded without congressional action. The U.S. Department of Agriculture stated that it cannot legally use its contingency fund to cover regular SNAP payments. Under Federal law, those funds are dedicated for food for individuals in a disaster area. For example, if Hurricane Melissa impacts Florida or another state and food must be purchased as a result. Even if the money could be repurposed it is not enough to cover what SNAP needs. Moving other funds would require taking it away from programs such as National School Lunch Program or Nutrition Assistance Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Some individuals may still have funds on their SNAP EBT cards at the end of October, those funds can still be used but unless Senate Democrats allow the House bill to pass no new funds will be added to cards. This did not have to happen. The fastest way to ensure that SNAP has the funding it needs is for Senate Democrats to vote for the clean, non-partisan, House-passed CR. SNAP EBT cards can be replenished within 24-48 hours of Senate Democrats passing the House’s funding bill!

P resident Trump is once again putting American workers first – this time cracking down on the abuse of commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) issued to illegal immigrants. Out of roughly 3.5 million truck drivers carrying a CDL recent studies show nearly 200,000 of these licenses were issued by state governments to individuals who are not residents of their state. These are typically foreign nationals.

Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy issued new guidance that non-citizens who wish to obtain a nondomiciled CDL must undergo a federal immigration status check and have an employment-based visa. This is in addition to President Trump’s directive to ensure sufficient English language proficiency. Florida has experienced firsthand the tragedy that can result when a truck is operated by a driver who cannot understand basic English road signs. In August, a truck driver made an illegal turn on Florida’s Turnpike causing a car accident that killed three people. An investigation found the driver couldn’t interpret basic road signs.

America’s truckers work every day, away from their families to transport and deliver goods that keep our economy running. These decisive actions not only protect the safety of our roads and highways but protect hardworking American truckers from being undercut by cheap foreign labor.

A fter more than two years of unimaginable suffering, all living hostages held by Hamas terrorists were finally released. We thank God for their safety as they returned to their families and loved ones.

Following an address at the Knesset, Israel’s legislature, President Trump traveled to Egypt for a peace summit to sign a declaration for enduring peace and prosperity in the Middle East. These historic events come after Israel and Gaza agreed to a ceasefire as outlined in President Trump’s twenty-point peace plan.

This significant breakthrough was made possible thanks to President Trump’s Peace Through Strength doctrine. The President’s foreign policy laid the groundwork to achieve peace, and Secretary Marco Rubio, Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and other officials from the Trump Administration helped carry that forward.

This incredible moment reminds us that when a strong America leads, the world is a much safer and more peaceful place.

Congressman Daniel Webster has voted to pass H.R. 3486, the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025, which increases penalties for individuals who illegally enter or reenter the United States after being removed.

Sandy and I are mourning the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. Our prayers are with his family, his children, loved ones, and all who grieve this heartbreaking loss.

Charlie was a patriot, who loved his country and devoted his life to engaging in good faith civil discourse with Americans around the country. He shared his love and commitment to his savior, Jesus Christ as he sought to engage Americans of all ages and backgrounds, including those who disagreed with him. His platform spoke to countless students at college campuses, helping many young Americans participate in our political process.

This act of violence is not only an attack on Charlie, but an assault on the principles of free expression and civil discourse that define our country. Violence has no place in our political discourse. I pray also for healing for our country and that each of us would seek to serve others, not ourselves. Unkindness and hatred cannot coexist with a focus on serving others.

The Treasury Department has released a preliminary list of nearly 70 jobs that will benefit from President Trump’s “No Tax on Tips” provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill.

From servers and hotel staff to hairdressers and many more, this provision will put more money back into the pockets of hardworking Americans. I voted to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill because it delivers real relief to Americans. This legislation will help workers keep more of what they earned, while strengthening budgets and supporting the service economy that is vital to Florida.

American Farmers First

Agriculture is one of the three pillars of Florida’s economy. I have always fought in Congress to put our farmers first, and with President Trump and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, farmer voices are being heard, and the needs of Florida agriculture are being met. I want to share several actions that have been taken to protect America’s farmers and ranchers and to strengthen our domestic agriculture industry.

Protecting Livestock: The USDA announced the accelerated construction of a sterile fly facility in Texas to combat the New World Screwworm (NWS), a dangerous pest that threatens American’s cattle industry. I sent a letter to Secretary Rollins urging the USDA to move forward with this facility, and I am glad to see this plan taking shape.

Helping Citrus Growers: Beginning with the 2027 crop year, Florida’s citrus crop insurance program will expand eligibility by lowering production requirements for older trees. This change will provide much-needed support as growers continue to battle citrus greening and recover from hurricanes and natural disasters.

Defending America’s Sugarcane Farmers: The U.S. International Trade Commission recently voted to maintain Suspension Agreements on Mexican sugar imports, ensuring accountability for unfair trade practices and protecting Florida’s sugarcane growers.

Relief from Burdensome Wage Rules: Last week, a federal court vacated the Department of Labor’s 2023 Adverse Effect Wage Rate rule, which had imposed unsustainable wage hikes on farmers using the H-2A program. This is a step in the right direction toward providing relief and stability for our farmers and ranchers.

These actions mark real progress, but there’s still more work to do. I remain committed to fighting for Florida’s farmers and ranchers to ensure they have the tools they need to keep feeding America.

Florida Congressman Daniel “Dan” Webster (R-Clermont) addressed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act during a Lunch and Learn hosted by the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

President Donald Trump signed The One Big Beautiful Bill into law on July 4. According to the White House, the law funds the Golden Dome missile defense system, strengthens Medicaid, and more. But many parties found the law upsetting.

“Fiscal conservatives hated the massive spending and budget trickery,” TIME senior correspondent Philip Elliott said . “Centrists despised the deep cuts to programs for the poor and elderly.”

As a result, Webster said he hoped to present the facts alone at the Lunch and Learn event.

To introduce his comments on the bill, Webster reassured the audience of about 35 people of his dedication to returning tax money back into constituents’ hands. Webster recalled a statement he had seen from someone in the district next door to Florida Congressional District 11. According to the statement, that district had returned $100,000 during the year.

“My staff laughed,” Webster said. “They do that every month. It’s just something you pride yourself in doing.”

Webster said the One Big Beautiful Bill aims to save citizens’ money in a similar way, but on a nationwide scale.

“Fact is, if you’re on Social Security, you’re not going to pay taxes on that,” Webster said. “We were really, really happy that we got that.”

According to Webster, the bill also benefits small businesses, including several members of the chamber. Webster said before Trump signed the law, small businesses could not expense company assets in the first year. Now, they can save more money.

“If you’re in business and you buy a truck for $30,000, you can write off all $30,000 in this tax year,” Webster said.

The bill also makes tips and overtime pay tax-exempt, Webster said. He also mentioned the usefulness of the child tax credit, which will provide $65,000 more per year to the Webster family.

“I’ve got 24 grandkids,” Webster said. “Maybe they’ll spend it on their granddaddy.”

Ultimately, Webster sees the law as a step in the right direction.

“It does something for everyone,” Webster said. “It helps everyone. It gives people an extended chance to hope.”

Florida’s Congressional District 11 includes western Orange County, including Apopka, and extends north to The Villages and south to the edge of Lakeland.

Congressman Daniel Webster has joined with fellow legislators to introduce the Fixing Emergency Management for Americans (FEMA) Act of 2025. The FEMA Act would provide the most robust legislative reform of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and federal disaster assistance programs in decades.

Congressman Daniel Webster is hailing the passage this past week of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act which requires states to obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship and identity in person when registering individuals to vote in federal elections.

Webster, a Republican who represents The Villages, co-sponsored the legislation.

“It’s simple, only American citizens should have a voice in American elections,” said Webster. “An honest and secure election is a hallmark of our republic, with the right to vote serving as a privilege and responsibility for American citizens. The SAVE Act also requires, states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls and would hold election officials accountable that fail to uphold proof of citizenship requirements. Congressman Daniel Webster has reintroduced the U.S. Citrus Protection Act to prohibit the importation of commercially produced fresh citrus fruit originating from China.

“Florida’s citrus growers have fed Americans for generations and remain a cornerstone of our state’s agricultural economy,” said Rep. Webster. “For too long, China has flooded the market with risky imports, threatening American farmers and food security. The U.S. Citrus Protection Act puts American agriculture first and ensures that we are not dependent on foreign adversaries for our food supply.”

This week, the country celebrated the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance. President Trump’s triumphant return to the White House marks a new chapter in our nation’s great story – the Golden Age of America.

Webster says the navy needs to guard Florida shores from Haitian migrants

Florida — Rep. Daniel Webster is asking the President to bring in the Navy to help guard Florida shores against immigrants coming from Haiti.

The lawmaker fears a wave of migrants will try to reach the Sunshine State.

We caught up with the Republican District 11 Congressman recently, handing out medals and meeting with Vietnam Veterans at Watercrest Buena Vista Senior Living Center in The Villages.

Webster thanked them for their service and for protecting America's freedoms, which he says includes legal immigration to the U.S., something he's worried about as gangs continue their rampage in Haiti.

“If they're illegal, they are supposed to be repatriated. We're doing that,” the Clermont Congressman said.

Webster chairs the Coast Guard and Maritime Subcommittee. He and three other Florida Republican members of Congress — Gus Bilirakis, Anna Paulina Luna, and Matt Gaetz — have sent President Joe Biden a letter, stating concerns over an "anticipated mass migration" of Haitians to Florida.

They are requesting Navy forces join the Coast Guard, and state and local officers patrolling our coast to stop the potential wave of migrants coming to the country illegally.

“The Coast Guard protects people. They rescue people. But we don't want to see anybody that is sort of a person that we don't want to have here come over and do damage to America,” Webster said.

So far, it's not happening in the waves Webster predicted, but crossings done illegally are happening.

Two weeks ago, Fish and Wildlife officers stopped a boat off Brevard County that had 25 Haitian immigrants with guns and drugs.

Webster says he's trying to help people in his district — which includes all of Sumter County and parts of Lake, Orange and Polk counties — that are Americans trying to escape Haiti. Some have been flown back by the Florida Division of Emergency Management to Orlando, and some have been airlifted to Florida by teams organized by Republican Congressman Cory Mills.

Webster says he also supports the $300 million Defense Department investment in funding the Kenyan-led multi-national security mission to try and stop the gang violence to protect innocent Haiti civilians.

“They're afraid of what's happening, what could happen, what's happened to them personally and what's happening in their country, and so we're there to help out,” Webster said.

Webster urges the families of any Floridians who may be trapped in Haiti to contact his office, the State Department's "crisis intake" portal online, or FloridaDisaster.org for guidance on requesting evacuation from the island nation.

Former President Donald Trump (R) has traded endorsements with Representative Daniel Webster (R-FL) during the 2024 election cycle. Rep. Webster received the endorsement over his challenger, former State Representative Anthony Sabatini (R-FL), a staunch supporter of President Trump.

Sabatini currently serves as the Chairman of the Lake County Republican Party. His campaign website currently states that “we need strong conservative fighters like Donald J. Trump in Washington that will always put America first,” and includes a photo of himself with the former President as well.

According to Politico, Trump approached Webster first with a phone call to request his endorsement.

On his campaign website, Rep. Webster showcases his gratitude for the endorsement, saying, “I am grateful to have President Trump's support of my campaign! We need President Trump back in the White House to Make America Great!”

Additionally, Rep. Webster has immediately started to use the Official Team Trump “Seal of Approval” in his fundraising efforts.

In a text message to possible donors, his recent message says that he’s grateful to have President Trump’s support.

“Hi, it’s Rep. Daniel Webster. As you know, I’m supporting President Donald J. Trump and I am grateful to have his support of my campaign! You will notice my website and emails now feature the Official Trump Seal of Approval! We need President Trump back in the White House to Make America Great! Can President Trump and I count on your support as we battle the radical left?” the text says.

In a video obtained from the Webster campaign, Trump praised the Florida congressman for his endorsement and even called him a “handsome” man.

“We have a man that has really gotten to know me and I’ve gotten to know him a little bit over the last little period of time and he’s a handsome gentleman. And he’s here with us. Daniel Webster, congratulations to him,” said Trump. “It’s nice to know you a little bit better and we appreciate everything. You gave me a beautiful endorsement, I appreciated that endorsement.”

State Rep. Sabatini, who was dubbed " Florida's Biggest Loser " received some heat for being a registered Democrat during the 2008 and 2012 elections, while he didn't say if he voted for either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, he did say that he wrote in "JFK," according to The Floridian.

Furthermore, a week before the 2022 primary election for Florida’s 7 ^th Congressional District, State Rep. Sabatini and his campaign received some flack for sending out a text attacking the wife of one of his congressional primary opponents.

The text attacked the current CD 7 Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) and his wife, calling her "radical" and "anti-Christian."

"RINO Cory Mills & his radical anti-Christian wife are lying about DeSantis-ally Anthony Sabatini," read the text in question.

While it is true that the Iraqi-American al Saadi was born of the Muslim faith, she took Jesuit studies courses in college and does not consider herself Muslim.

Mills' wife worked for the Trump administration in Iraq gathering intelligence.

A dozen U.S. Representatives from Florida have now endorsed Donald Trump over Ron DeSantis.

U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster is the latest to announce his support for the former President. The Clermont Republican revealed his support during an interview with POLITICO .

While the publication includes no direct quotes, Webster revealed he had spoken directly to Trump on the matter. In the conversation, Trump promised to support Webster in his own re-election campaign in Florida’s 11th Congressional District.

That’s significant, as Webster faces a Republican Primary challenge from Anthony Sabatini, the Lake County Republican Party Chair and an ardent Trump supporter.

Webster last cycle fended off a Primary challenge from Laura Loomer, an online activist, in a closer-than-expected contest last August.

Loomer also supports Trump, and has been one of DeSantis’ most vocal critics in Republican politics, staking out his public appearances and leading protests. That included an early book tour stop in Lake County. Trump, like Loomer did after she lost to Webster, has repeatedly claimed his election loss to Democrat Joe Bidenwas rigged.

In that sense, Trump’s support of Webster could be more meaningful than Webster’s of Trump, as both Sabatini and Loomer hail from the America First movement started by the former President.

But Webster’s support adds to an effort by Trump’s campaign to intentionally embarrass DeSantis on his home turf. Through April, Trump personally lobbied members of Florida’s congressional delegation to publicly endorse his campaign.

While his recent opponents have painted Webster as part of the Republican establishment, the Congressman once waged a right-wing challenge to former Republican House Speaker John Boehner. That occurred while he served alongside DeSantis in Congress.

At this point, only one member of the Florida congressional delegation has endorsed DeSantis over Trump. That’s U.S. Rep. Laurel Lee, a Thonotosassa Republican and DeSantis’ former Secretary of State.

This AMAC Supported Bill Offers Healthcare Providers A Tax Deduction For Pro-Bono Health Services.

Washington: Earlier today, Congressman Daniel Webster (R-FL-11) introduced the Helping Everyone Access Long Term Healthcare (HEALTH) Act ( H.R. 2986 ). This bill offers a new solution to provide healthcare services to low-income families and has the potential to help Medicaid and CHIP programs save on costs. Medicaid-insured patients often struggle to find primary care doctors able to accept them as new patients. In many cases, this leaves emergency care as the only option for patients to receive care for non-acute reasons such as strep throat. The HEALTH Act would allow doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide pro-bono healthcare services to low-income individuals, including children in the CHIP program, and receive a simple charitable tax deduction instead of billing these programs. Participating physicians and medical personnel would receive a tax deduction for the value of the service performed, which would significantly reduce the amount of burdensome paperwork for smaller practices. This bill would create more time in physicians’ busy schedules to see new Medicaid patients, allowing patients to receive proper preventative care from non-emergency healthcare facilities.

Congressman Daniel Webster has helped push through a measure to prohibit spending federal funds to house illegal immigrants on federal lands.

The Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act of 2023 prohibits federal funds from being used to house illegal immigrants on federal lands, including National Parks, and revokes a lease agreement finalized by the National Park Service to house illegal aliens within the Gateway National Recreation Area.

“Today I voted to stop the Biden Administration from converting our national parks from areas of recreation and wonder into housing encampments for unvetted migrants,” said Webster, a Republican who represents The Villages in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“This legislation is one step of many that House Republicans have taken to push back against the radical open border policies pursued by President Biden and extreme Democrats. I will continue to work with my House colleagues to fulfill our commitment to America to secure our border and sensibly reform our immigration laws,” Webster added.

The House passed the measure by a vote of 224-203, with one member voting present.

Congressman Daniel Webster has voted in favor of a resolution that formalizes the impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

“Since January, House Republicans have conducted methodical oversight investigations into President Biden’s actions related to his family’s foreign business dealings and have uncovered serious allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption,” said Webster, a Republican who represents The Villages in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Unlike the Democrats’ soviet style impeachment of President Trump, House Republicans are following the money, evidence, and proper procedures as we investigation President Biden’s influence peddling scheme. This bill gives empowers investigatory Committees to enforce subpoenas and removes the legal ambiguity the White House has claimed to disregard congressional subpoenas,” he added.

He said the American people deserve answers and Biden must be held accountable.

“House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry has already provided evidence into the corrupt conduct within the President’s family and has shown that Joe Biden and White House officials have repeatedly lied about Joe Biden’s knowledge and extent of involvement in his family’s business dealings,” Webster added.

The Trump camp hailed the House members’ vote to move ahead with the inquiry.

“The impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden is long overdue. There is a mountain of evidence proving that Biden profited by abusing his power to help out Hunter Biden’s foreign clients. Hunter lied today when he said that Joe was not financially involved with his business. The Big Guy was directly involved,” said Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc.

My staff worked with the Social Security Administration and they released the full amount of his back payment, which was roughly $67,000.

Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office.

The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape.

Putting America First

I promised my constituents that I would work to shut off the spigot of spending that has led to over $30 trillion in national debt. I believe in ensuring the health of the U.S. economy and honoring debts incurred; however, I have opposed voting for a debt ceiling increase that does not come with spending reforms that will help us pay down the debt.

House Republicans have taken action. The Limit, Save, Grow Act:

Limits federal spending and establishes spending levels for Fiscal Year 2024 at FY22 levels – where the government was operating just 4 months ago – and allows for 1% annual growth over the next 10 years.

Saves taxpayers funds by repealing President Biden’s “Green New Deal” energy subsidies, eliminates funding for Biden’s supercharged IRS to hire 87,000 IRS agents, and prohibits Biden’s overreaching executive action to eliminate student loans.

Grows the economy and drives down inflation by rebuilding America’s workforce, lowering energy costs and eliminating red-tape, and blocks efforts to spend taxpayer money outside the normal process by the executive branch by resorting Congress’ Article 1 authority.

It’s also important to note what the bill does NOT do. Contrary to reports from the White House and others. The bill does NOT cut Veteran Benefits, Medicare or Social Security. The Limit, Save, Grow Act responsibly addresses the debt crisis and saves $3.6 trillion taxpayer dollars, while returning spending to FY22 levels – where the government was operating just four months ago.

H.R. 2986 - the Helping Everyone Access Long Term HealthCare (HEALTH) Act. This bill offers a new solution to provide healthcare services to low-income families and has the potential to help Medicaid and CHIP programs save on costs. By allowing doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide pro-bono healthcare services to low-income individuals, and children in CHIP programs in exchange for a simple tax deduction, this bill can help more Americans have access to the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at a price they can afford.

In recent action, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved H.R. 2741, the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2023, which I cosponsored and developed within the subcommittee with I serve as chairman. This bill will strengthen, support, and authorize funding for the United States Coast Guard. The Coast Guard plays an important role in protecting our coasts, securing maritime trade by protecting our ports and waterways, responding to emergencies and disasters, and countless other missions. Both sides of the isle came together to craft this legislation that will provide the resources needed to help with readiness and the Service’s ability to carry out and meet its missions.”

In June, something happened in Congress that hasn’t happened since 2014. Congress passed and the President signed into law legislation that forces Congress to spend LESS this year than it did last year.

A Step Toward Less Government Spending

My 23rd grandson was born earlier this year. He came into the world already having captured the hearts of his grandparents and with a $95,000 bill from Washington – his portion of America’s debt. Would I have liked the bill to require deeper cuts? Absolutely! But I owed it to my grandchildren, my constituents and their grandchildren to not let perfect be the enemy of good.

Before deciding to support the Fiscal Responsibility Act, I spent 72 hours reviewing the bill text and running the numbers to make sure they added up to a spending cut.

This bill does not authorize new spending. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reduces the deficit by $2.1 trillion over 6 years.
It limits defense spending to $868.349 billion and nondefense spending to $703.651 billion for Fiscal Year 2024, similar to the Limit, Save Grow Act that House Republicans overwhelmingly passed in April. These numbers protect Social Security, Medicare and Veterans benefits - all things very important to many of my constituents.
The bill rescinds $1.4 billion slated to be spent this year Biden’s IRS army.
It also rescinds nearly $30 billion that was allocated for COVID-related items.
It also requires welfare reform, for the first time in 10 years, which reduces mandatory spending. Given mandatory spending is one of the largest drivers of the national debt this is a good step in the right direction.
This bill includes reforms to the energy and infrastructure permitting process that Republicans have been trying to pass for years. Liberal environmentalist’s weaponization of the permit review process is costing trillions of taxpayer dollars. The changes in this bill both save taxpayer dollars and allows projects to move forward that will provide high-paying jobs and help stimulate the economy.
Restarts student loan payments that the Biden Administration has been blocking – costing taxpayers up to $5 billion a month.

I disagree with those who argue that to vote no would have forced more cuts. Republicans only barely control one of the three entities that have a say in this. We successfully moved President Biden and Democrats in Congress, who have spent more than even the proverbial drunken sailor could envision, from demanding a clean debt ceiling to accepting spending cuts, welfare reform and rescinding this year's money for his IRS army.

Failure to pass this bill would’ve put the U.S. on a trajectory towards default, which would jeopardize the retirement accounts of thousands of my constituents. Many of them depend on these investments to cover their costs of living.

As noted, this bill only rescinds funding, it does not provide additional spending – new spending will be determined by the upcoming appropriations bills we must pass by September 30.

That is the next fight, and this bill gives fiscal conservatives leverage.

A provision in H.R.2376 mandates another spending cut if Congress fails to pass 12 appropriations bills. I and my good friend Congressman Massie have been loud and often minority voices for Congress to adhere to regular order when developing government spending bills. A flawed process will create a flawed product andcompelling Congressional leaders to restore a thoughtful, thorough appropriations process is a big win!

Revitalizing our nation’s economic engine is critical to restoring the growth and prosperity our country enjoyed just a few years ago. One of the most vital investments we can make is in ensuring we can efficiently move freight and people through our transportation system. We must embrace policies that reduce our dependence on countries that want to see America weakened, and work on innovative solutions that will add value to our economy and local communities with safe and effective infrastructure.

Recent events such as the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) NOTAM communications system meltdown, which resulted in the grounding of all U.S. flights in January, and the derailment of the Norfolk Southern freight train in East Palestine, Ohio, underline the desperate need of oversight and revitalization of our nation’s infrastructure. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee, I am committed to tackling these issues and improving safety and bringing innovation to our surface, air, and rail transportation systems.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has already held a few hearings. The first one focused on the state of our infrastructure and supply chain issues. We heard from stakeholders about challenges they’re facing in their respective industries. No matter the industry, they echoed the same message; inflation, manufacturing and shipping disruptions, and overbearing regulations are all having an impact on our supply chain.

The committee also began working on the FAA Reauthorization. This legislation renewed the authority of the FAA to oversee safety of commercial and general aviation, aircraft design, manufacturing and maintenance safety oversight, integration of unmanned aircraft systems in the national airspace, consumer protections, and airport improvement projects. Our recent hearing focused on how we can enhance the standards and safety of American aviation. Communications systems are fundamental to airline pilot and passenger safety. With developments made in communications technology, it’s vital that these advancements don’t come at the cost of airline and pilot safety. I asked stakeholders about the areas we can improve the FAA’s ability to manage risk and ensure the safety for all. They promised to provide me with a more detailed answer which I look forward to receiving and reviewing.

This Congress, I will also be serving as the Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation. I am excited to continue applying my depth of experience, knowledge, and unique perspective as an engineer on behalf of hard working Americans. I am confident we can balance protecting U.S. waters, seas, access to fishing and energy exploration, while ensuring our Coast Guard has the resources they need. I look forward to working with my colleagues to develop and pass legislation that saves taxpayer money, protects communities across the United States, boosts our resilience, and strengthens our economy. I’ve already gotten started by introducing the Federal Infrastructure Bank Act of 2022. The bank will complement, not replace, existing programs and encourage states, municipalities, and other entities to pursue all available funding sources. This would help finance surface transportation projects, ports, electric grid security, broadband connectivity, the revitalization of Main Street USA, and more. Project eligibility is broad as the bill does not authorize the bank to use taxpayer dollars.

Several members of the delegation were praised for the advocacy and votes on behalf of small businesses. The National Retail Federation (NRF) named 13 Floridians as a recipient of the Heroes of Main Street Award .

One dozen of the winners were Republicans while Murphy, the Winter Park Representative, was the only Democrat cited by the conservative-leaning group.

Retailers and consumers are feeling good about the state of the U.S. economy, and a big part of that is the result of lawmakers who have made economic growth and job creation a top priority,” said NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay . “As Heroes of Main Street, these elected officials truly understand that the decisions they make here in Washington have a real impact on local businesses and communities across the country.”

Among the Republicans cited was Rep. Dan Webster of Clermont. In addition to serving in Congress, Webster is a longtime small-business man in the air conditioning and heating industry.

“The National Retail Federation is an important voice, providing research and feedback on policies that will impact Main Street,” said Webster. “Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, accounting for 55 percent of all U.S. jobs. Webster Wins Landslide Re-election

Minneola, FL – With 10% of precincts reporting, the Associated Press called the election for Florida’s 11th Congressional District for Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont. At that time, Congressman Webster was leading in the polls 63-37%.

“Thank you to the voters of Congressional District 11 for supporting my record of fighting for conservative reforms in Washington,” Webster told supporters. “We have made progress, but there is more work to be done and my promise is to fight for you and uphold our American values.”

First elected to Congress in 2010, Webster has a record of fighting for conservative values, American principles and passing legislation that empower families and small business owners and invest in Florida’s infrastructure and environment.

Webster is a small business owner and active member of his church and community. He and his wife Sandy and have six children and seventeen grandchildren.
